Question 6

If a live action movie of LaMB was to be produced, who would you like to see play the starring roles of Eve and Jack and why?

First of all, if LaMB should be produced as a live action movie I will definitely watch it. I guess I’m interested in seeing how they are able to do the stunts and special effects. I hope it has a dark edge to it to make it more serious and futuristic.

Here is Jack’s bio:

Jack Griswold:
Height: 1.85m
Professional Background: Scientist-Horticulture

So the actor’s height should be at least 6 feet. He should also possess that presence as a scientist, not to mention a similar physique like the animated Jack Griswold.

And so the candidates are:

1. Keanu Reeves -I’m picking him, because of his ability to pull off a serious scene yet the movie-goer would still try to understand what he is saying. Take Matrix for example, how in the world would anyone try to understand his conversation about machinery and the architect. It just didn’t make any sense, but since it was Keanu Reeves, the movie-goers paid attention. Yes, a nodding of the head will signify “I believe you.”

He is also my choice because he draws one mean of an action sequence. I think Jack can be viewed as that: silent yet deadly if needed.

2. Johnny Depp- He is a very diverse actor. If LaMB will make Jack as more of a lab rat instead of an action star, I think Johnny Depp will be perfect for the role. He can make any character interesting, unless he makes Jack too eccentric.

One thing I like about Johnny Depp is his can fully express an emotion without over exaggerating. I guess it’s in his facial features, especially his eyes—they are expressive.

3. Hugh Jackman- Physically, Hugh is the most similar to Jack. In addition, he has a great physique. I bet if he wore a lab suit, he will be able to hide his muscles. Those strong biceps can be handy when saving Eve somewhere in the later part of the movie. Yes, I am guessing; it’s a habit.

And my vote for the role of Jack goes to….*drum roll*

Keanu Reeves.

He can play both action and love movies. So I’m giving him the thumbs up for that! :-)

On the other hand, here's Eve's bio:

Identity: Major Sara Integra
Height: 1.74m
Professional Background: Scientist-Bio Weapons Division

As for Jack’s leading lady has only one candidate for this blog. I’m voting for Jennifer Garner.

I think if Jennifer got a short hair-cut, she is a dead-ringer for Eve. She’s almost the same height as Eve. Moreover, I think Jen’s eyes are expressive. As Eve cannot talk unless ordered to, her eyes are the windows to her thoughts and feelings. After all, a LaMB’s eyes turn red when in anger.

As for background check, she used to be enrolled as chemistry major before becoming an actress. That’s a good plus as she can relate to the scientific know-how in LaMB’s screen play.

Like Keanu, Jennifer is able to portray both romantic and action roles. After all, she learned kickboxing for her role in Alias. And she definitely amazed us as Elektra. I never thought the sais could be handled that way. She made Raphael of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles green with envy—pun intended.

Keanu Reeves as Jack and Jennifer Garner as Eve will make LaMB a box office hit. I guarantee it or my name isn’t Rose Bernaldo---and it is.

A Review of the LaMB Game

Forgive me for the LaMB Game review at such a late time. I tried accessing the game several times, but my computer always hangs. May be it’s as stroke of luck that I was able to access the game today. I’m such a freak in solving hidden objects game.

I’ll be providing screen shots of the game (http://www.animax-lamb.com) , so spoiler alert. Don’t worry; every time you access the game (or die in the game) you will be given a new set of items to find.

Scene 1: Bio-research lab

The great thing about this game is that the items listed are related to LaMB directly or indirectly. Most of them are scientific equipment and paraphernalia; so I’d brush up on my vocabulary if I were you. For example do you know what a centrifuge is? A centrifuge is a piece of equipment, generally driven by a motor, that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a force perpendicular to the axis. (source: www.wikipedia.org) Don’t ask me how I knew that to begin with. I’m a nerd.

Being excited that I was able to access the game, I hardly read the rules and the instructions. It seems that if you have clicked wrong items consecutively, a bomb will go off. Before that happens, you need to click the bomb defuse icon at your lower right. If you fail to defuse the bomb in time, your health will go down. How did I know that? I lost on my first try. Hahaha.

Scene 2: Shopping District

Here, I learned two things: 1. there are hidden power-ups in the game. You can click on what appears to be a life and sleep icon to gain health. 2. The bombs are harder to defuse. 3. You die if you don’t find every item. The second lesson was officially learned by losing the game twice because of it. This is harder than I thought. And the only problem is that the game goes back to scene 1.

So until I get pass scene 2, you’ll have to take my word for it that this game is hard. I’ll update you once I pass it. May be I can have my friend help me look for the items.

I’m giving this game 4.5 out of 5.

1. Graphics are excellent; though I wish the sidebar panel is not included when you move the cursor or the game can be played full screen.

2. Game play is excellent. The difference between other hidden games is that this game has power-ups, which I think gives the game an advantage. I also like Eve’s comments on the right side every time you click an item, whether it’s on the list or not.

3. Suggestion: a hint button should be included in the game. The hint button will find 1 item and then deduct 30% of one’s health. This could be use when the user is out of time or if he/she doesn’t know how the item looks like.

I checked the Help button and it says more scenes will be added in the following months, so I’ll keep you in touch with that also. ;-)

Question 5

If you had to choose a theme song for LaMB, which song would you choose, which band would you have perform it and why?

I think the main themes of LaMB revolve under loneliness and struggle, freedom and hope. With that in mind, the themes “freedom and hope” are for the opening song; “loneliness and struggle” for the closing song.

As for the songs in between I suggest a lighter mood every now and then.

So here is my choice of songs:

Opening songs:

1. Sometimes by Nine Days <-this is a upbeat rhythm to it. The lyrics are just amazing. It just says that one has to let go. And all I can imagine is someone free-falling. May be that’s a good animation for the opening—Eve letting go of the past by falling down a cliff.

I’m not really sure if this band is still around. It’s been ages since I heard a recent song of theirs, yet all of their songs are greatly written and well-played.

2. Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus <- A semi-sweet song. It has a theme coinciding with Simple Plan’s I will wait forever. This is just more of I’ll protect you forever.

Ending Songs:

1. Broken by Lifehouse <-I absolutely adore Lifehouse. I have their CDs! Most of their songs have one or two melancholies which I find so thought provoking. Broken is just a sad song. It strikes me as painful, especially when you are aware of what is happening. That is why I related it to Eve. It seems painful to be there just observing, waiting if there is any healing afterwards.

2. When you’re gone by Avril Lavigne <-I think this can easily portray Eve. It’s when a LaMB is so attached to his/her Shepherd, that if his/her sentence is greater than 30 years, he/she will witness the death of the very person he/she holds dear. I just can’t imagine how the LaMBs, particularly Eve can go on living the rest of their sentences with guilt and with pain. I guess the memories of their love ones fuel their strength to go on.

I tried to place myself in the shoes of Eve when thinking about these songs. I think songs should be listened by the heart, because it was made from it. Excuse my melodramatic moment please. If these songs do not get you right then and there while having the visuals of LaMB, then they defeat my purpose in choosing them.

I hope the production crew takes my songs and ideas as good suggestions. Hehe. ^_^

All songs, except for “Sometimes by Nine Days” can be played at the right hand side. I have also included the Click Five’s “Summertime” and Simple Plan’s “I can wait Forever”, which are already both in LaMB’s OST. All music have been embedded legally. :-)

Question 4

Choose a side. Are you for or against lamination?

Please watch my video as an introduction to this post.

Lamination was implemented to have the following benefits:

1. To reduce the need for law enforcement resources and prisons; hence lower taxes for citizens,
2. To discourage crime with sentences of up to 500 years,
3. To reduce illegal slavery, domestic abuse and child labor since the public can engage the services of LaMBs.
4. To reduce the release of free radicals since lamination is environmentally-friendly, and
5. To eliminate the need for rehabilitative and aftercare programs to facilitate the reintegration of a criminal back to the community and his family after he has served his sentence.

Nothing but a publicity stunt

The Central Administration Bureau of Cerra (CABC) has made substantial efforts to convince the public that Lamination will become more beneficial to the inhabitants of Cerra. Yet every benefit is easily rebuttable if one is paying attention.

First, the video wherein a girl wants to have a lamination treatment, which of course started as an age-defying skin treatment, indicated that the said process is expensive. In addition, there are also the payment of the maintenance of lamination equipment, research or development, and personnel. There is a possibility of a tax benefit, but I believe it would be rather minimal.

Second, the sentence of up to 500 years may only deter premeditated crimes. Like the main character of the story, accidental and other non-premeditated crimes will most likely have the higher percentage of type of offences in Cerra. The CABC is only focusing on the effect rather than the cause of crimes. Why do crimes occur? Is it when a person is trapped in a situation and compromises his morality then commits a crime? Is it because a person can be mentally-ill to begin with? These are what the Cerra government should focus on rather than finding an “easier” solution.

The third “benefit” is something to laugh about. When was slavery legal? Does this benefit imply that slavery, domestic abuse and child labor are legal if they are LaMBs?

The fourth reason is very contradicting to the second. If lamination would reduce crime rates, then it follows that there only a number of LaMBs. If there are only a number of LaMBs, then wouldn’t it mean that lamination will only have a small environmental impact?

The last one is a complete brain-drain for me. It has two possible interpretations: 1. Criminals will have self-atonement and rehabilitation during their sentences or 2. Upon the end of their sentence, their bodies will age rapidly upon removing the skin cover and will eventually lead to death. I hope it does not mean the latter one, as the post-lamination process is still vague. Perhaps, it is just a wild guess; forgive me if it’s wrong.

Against Universal Human Rights

On December 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Although the story of LaMB takes place in the year 2472 AD, I still think that Universal Human Rights should be applied. To disregard it is just a step backward in human intellectual revolution.

Among the rights violated in the process of lamination are the following:

1. Article 3: Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person
2. Article 4: No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
3. Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
4. Article 19: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
5. Article 24: Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.

Alternative to Lamination

Aside from the policies I would like to recommend as stated in my previous blog, I suggest that they have an extensive research changing the environment. A planet with a bountiful resource would not only boost the spirits of its citizens, but will also create job and profit opportunities.

Use lamination without the “slave technology” on the scientists doing environmental research. This is of course with their consents. In doing so, researches can be done more efficiently as there is no more need for food intake and sleep.

Strengthen the intellectual property by studying the past, and dedicating 5 hectares of land to research would speed up the environmental and climate research.

Summary

The end never justifies the means. Who are we to say that one situation is more beneficial than the other? Is life equivalent to the tax benefits? Is human dignity equivalent to environmental research? Indeed, the word “beneficial” is only relative to the people who use it.

My contribution to the environment

My contribution to the environment

Aside from segregating waste into recyclable, hazardous, biodegradable and non-biodegradable an idea (probably not an original one) struck me a few months back. As a trivial part of my daily work, I remove staple wires from bulks of papers. It then occurred to me while I was scooping them with my hand and throwing them in the trashcan, that I am throwing away steel. These discarded staple wires will most probably be thrown away without any chance of being recycled.

As stated in my previous blog, an action of an individual can be multiplied and is capable of reaching a goal. I have convinced my colleagues to join me in an effort to recycle the used staple wires. Unfortunately, my previous collection of used staple wires were thrown away by the maintenance personnel. It then made me pursue my project even more. For what is achievement when not faced with trials? After about almost two months of placing them in a container, below is a picture of the start of a wave.

I have actually checked websites if there are any suggestions on recycling the staple wires. Here are my favorites:

1. Make a mold of an object. Blowtorch the staple wires and place them in the mold. This makes an instant steel ornament.

2. If enough staple wires have been kept, these can be sold to merchants and junk shops.

I'll update you again after I have saved even more staple wires.

The term “recycle” does not only mean to be reprocessed again to have the same purpose as it has before. I believe that the term also means that items can have different uses besides its initial purpose.

It starts with one person…then the world.

Question 3

Lamination is considered a form of recycling by the Central Administration Bureau of Cerra (CABC). If you worked for the CABC, what other policies would you implement to help preserve the environment?

Apart from the terrorist attacks and wars happening around the globe, human beings still have time to manage their own impending extinction. They have solely created environmental problems, which will be their own demise in the near future.

Case in point, a few minutes ago it was reported that a dam holding back billions of gallons of toxic waste at a Tennessee power station has ruptured. The waste contained heavy metals, including arsenic, lead, mercury and selenium. Previous studies have indicated that toxic wastes such as this may cause cancer, birth defects, and other health problems. I’m afraid that this incident has set back human evolution to several generations. (For more information click:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/07/us/07sludge.html?_r=1&em )

On a smaller scale level, a person who doesn’t recycle would probably dismiss the idea of polluting the environment since he is only one person. But one piece of paper does make a difference. According to the world fact book provided by the CIA, the estimated world population as of July 2008 is 6.7billion. Since there are approximately 400 billion trees on Earth (about 61 per person), and an average tree can yield 9,000 sheets of copy paper, a person is entitled to about 551,000 sheets of copy paper in his lifetime (61x9000). This is assuming that every person will dismiss recycling and hence will eventually lead to an environmental catastrophe. (Figures were taken from
http://wikipedia.org) Yes, I’m a self-confessed number freak.

On the brighter side, there have been efforts to preserve the environment. Various organizations have constantly reminded the financial and consumer sectors to mind their actions towards the environment. For example, Green Peace (
http://www.greenpeace.org) have lead series of campaigns wherein major international companies have chosen to be more environmental-friendly while generating a profit.

Nations have also strived for stricter policies relating to environment protection. In the Philippines, Republic Act No. 8749 “Philippine Clean Air Act” was declared in 1999. The act states that the government is responsible for environmental protection while balancing economical development.

The above actions are merely an act of preservation, since the state of world environment has been deteriorating as years go by. As for Cerra, this place has been barren to begin with. I think the more appropriate term to pursue an environmental goal is “atmospheric flourishing”.

If I worked in CABC, these are the following policies I would have implemented to preserve the environment:

1. All lights in every house and public area have sensors to automatically switch off unused lights.

2. Waste segregation and recycling will become mandatory in both residential and commercial areas. Lottery tickets are given to each citizen who turns over at least 2 pounds of recyclable or biodegradable material. Lottery is held every month. 40% of the profits will be going to environmental research. Rewards motivate and encourage people into doing something productive.

3. Private vehicles are required to have at least two passengers in order to travel the highways to encourage citizens to carpool.

4. Biodegradable materials are then made into compost for renewable energy.
I know these policies may seem trivial and funny at first, but they are actually practical in order to preserve the environment. In addition, I think this will make the citizens of Cerra have a more positive outlook for the future.

In order to make the environment flourish, I believe that about 5 hectares of Cerra should be dedicated into government research. Flaura and fauna should be imported from other planets, preferably Earth to facilitate the study. Since Cerra is enclosed in a glass dome, controlling the atmosphere may be easily attainable.

In addition, since the ancestors have chosen Cerra as their home planet, it would be wise to study and learn the history of the planet and its ancestors. They should have had a reason in choosing Cerra as their second-home. Perhaps, by understanding the past, Cerra might have a future.

Are you a Lamb or a Shepherd?

This took longer than I have planned to be. This is a quiz whether to determine your personality as a LamB or a Shepherd. Please have fun. :-) (if you happen to have a hard time reading the images, kindly feel free to zoom or click on the image for your own convenience)

if you happen to end up with:

A- You are a LaMB.

You desire perfection. Although being beautiful is one of the least contributing factors; lacking the confidence to take step to lead is one of the highest contributing factors.

Be careful who you follow. Do not follow blindly and always ask what are the consequences of your actions.

B- You are a Good Shepherd.

You are a very charismatic leader. You only not lead by example, but have the ability to influence others into achieving a goal. You strongly believe in the golden rule: do not do unto others what you don't want to be done unto you.

Because of judging morality in your decisions, you seldom take time into account. Learn how to balance instinctiveness and rationality in order to save time.

C- You are a Bad Shepherd.
You believe that power is the most important thing in becoming a leader. You are able to lead because of negative reinforcements or fear of the consequences by your followers.

You are a strong leader, but be sure to take account your followers' voices. This may lead to mutiny and low morale of your followers if not addressed.

DISCLAIMER: This quiz is not endorsed or validated by the producers and writers of LaMB. This is the product of a vivid imagination of the blogger. Thanks.
